Week 2/4-2/8

Last week, we started Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451. Students started reading (and struggled a little bit) to make a connection and understand the novel on both the literal and symbolic levels. I was right there with them scaffolding their learning and helping them to make these insightful connections and analyze the parts of the novel. As their understanding develops and they become more comfortable with the novel, they will be able to make many of these connections on their own, and, more importantly, they will start to analyze everything on a deeper level really expanding their critical thinking capabilities.

This week, students will continue to read and analyze the novel, while having many insightful conversations. We will pay particular attention to the development of the themes--ignorance and knowledge, literary allusions, and expanding our analytical skills.
