Week 3/5-3/9

Last week, students finished reading "The Sieve and the Sand" from Fahrenheit 451 and analyzing Matthew Arnold's poem "Dover Beach." The majority of students are enjoying this novel and the discussion that goes along with it--it is not an easy novel to understand when looking beyond the literal. The level of critical thinking and analysis they are doing is amazing!

This week, students will write a group essay. I know, I know. Another essay and a group one at that! This is a difficult writing prompt, so having three brains (each one writing a body paragraph on their own and being assessed separately) and then collectively writing the introduction and conclusion will aid their understanding while also continuing to develop their academic writing skills. Students will then read the last part of Fahrenheit 451 "Burning Bright."
